Bear River

Yesterday I talked about the chardonnay from Benjamin Bridge vineyards being not so good. We went to the smallest winery in Nova Scotia, Bear River vineyard, and the owner explained that all Nova Scotia wines are very acidic which I don’t like. She explained that it’s because it gets cold quickly in the region.  Making wine really is a patience game. Her and her husband purchased the land in 1998, planted the vine and finally got a winery license in 2005. They downsized I guess because thry are getting older from 7 to 3 acres to be manageable and cost efficient. I likedtheir whites more than the reds.

This was just a small detour to our day to Saint John. What we also found was a little gem of a bistro

This is a town that probably has 2 restaurants but the food doesn’t seem small town.

Scallop pie was really good, really thought it was gojng to be like chicken pot pie type pies but the filo pastry was great, light and bot heavy. Salad balsamic was just right too.

It’s definitely a great find.
